One last quick hike up Deep Cove before hitting the road again and driving back down to LA.
I have to say it was a lot quicker and easier going up. Coming back there was much snow and black Ice. Driving to Vancouver from LA we decided to take 3 days driving up which was nice but we thought we could have easily done it in two days, I mean we only had to do 10 hours each day! Oh how wrong I was.
Just after crossing the border from Canada over to America we had seen 3 cars and a truck come off the road due to black ice. We drove about 10 hours before having to stop for the night due to a huge crash on the I5. It was about 5pm by now and it was getting dark so it worked out for us to stop.
We stayed at the Travel Lodge in Roseburg for the night. Waking up about 5am the following day and hitting the road. Knowing we had 12 hours of driving ahead of us we wanted to get started pretty early. I thought once we got to the state of California we might have been safe and sound with no more snow but I was so wrong! at one point we had 3 snow plows in front of us going down the mountains moving all the snow which was about 4 ft deep! It wasn’t till we were about 6 hours out of LA that the weather started to clear. We didn’t get into West Hollywood until about 9pm, we ended up driving for about 15 hours.
I have to say I was thankful that the drive was over! Only to be in LA for 2 nights and catching a 10 hour flight back to London ,to hear that its snowing there…. it hasn’t snowed in England in over 4 years…. I feel like the snow is following us!
